It's no bigger than the width of a toothpick. With the naked eye, you would never know these beautiful contours exist. But with a camera, the layers, colors, and textures are beautifully revealed. I'm beginning a new project today—one that I hope you'll enjoy seeing. It's both a project and a photographic challenge. It combines my love for small details with my fascination with light. The technical challenge is that at higher magnifications, camera movement and precise focus become amplified considerations. And, with a frame size of only 3mm, controlling light becomes a near impossibility. I've always felt that light is the embodiment of photography. The camera captures the light, the lenses bend and focus the light, and the photographer harnesses the light and turns it into a photograph. Sometimes the light is naturally occurring, but for me, light is something to be shaped and transformed. But shaping and transforming a beam of light narrower than a toothpick is challenging, to say the least. That challenge has made it necessary to design a lighting system built from an array of precision lenses, tubes, irises, and a few other optical pieces. With it, I'm able to create a spot of light that's just 1mm in diameter. Now, if I can just avoid bumping into it once it's positioned... For the next several months, I plan to light and photograph small things and capture the same subject at different magnifications—10x, 5x, and life-size. Hopefully, each image will stand on its own as an interesting photograph. But as a group, perhaps they will reveal what can be seen when we look just a little closer.” 📸: #Nikon #Z7 with the Mount Adapter FTZ #NikonLove #macro #macrophotography #birdphotography」8月6日 6時09分 - nikonusa
