Disgustingly unacceptable. I have no other words for this scene, an algae bloom on Lake Erie’s south western shore. The leading contributor of these blooms is excess phosphorus and nitrates from agricultural fertilizer that’s washed into streams as well as distributed via wind during winter months. Pollutants from industrial and pharmaceutical factories are also a link. High temperatures and still air create perfect conditions for algae to proliferate and accumulate at the surface. The accelerated rate in which we continue to destroy the ecosystem which we all depend on for life is of such a deplorable nature!!! It's amazing how I fought for Farmers rights, and the response of commercial industry has been a big thanks and fuck you!!! The Pharmacudical Companies run far too much of this nation but WE are (many of us un-knowingly) letting this happen by buying the products from these local "Terrorists". There are so many local growers, alternative medications etc... the point is we as a society have to put a stop to it for the government makes far too much money from these industries to do anything more then put down more chemicals which cause more problems, to try and get rid of the "algae blooms" if you will. Sorry for the vulgarity but this is one of the times where it's needed!!! I live in Florida. The only fear of the water I used to have were sharks and Gators. Now I can die from the water.... What more other reason is there needed to put an end to the destruction of our planet? Ever wonder why we're in such a hurry to go to Mars...🙄

Seeing the world through your eyes is beautiful! We’ve had a terrible tragedy here in El Paso Texas with the shootings this weekend. Your photographs are the first to remind me of peace & hope! Thank you

Check out a cool water quality program started by a non-profit to reduce run off from ag business in the Ohio River valley: https://wqt.epri.com

These pics certainly mean to show the bad side of industrial waste disposal and all but even so I find them beautiful... how do you do this?

I don’t understand how corporate/government/civilians that live/have factories/farm think that it’s okay to destroy our water.
