joe_underwood26 The union started the war to preserve themselves and only issued the emancipation proclamation in 1863 after they had a solid victory (Gettysburg) and to gain international support and make the union cause look more solid, and even if the war was about slavery, it still took educated, clever Americans at least 80 years to figure out there was something actually wrong with it when it was practically just them and Brazil as the only major slaveholding countries in the world at that time and Brazil was already making moves towards abolition, how can you know anything about the UK's ability to protect rights, you aren't a citizen there, and I'm not a citizen in the US so I can't judge the living standard there but my grandparents have lived in both and moved back here now trump's president. Also we have stood by your side in almost every war since WW1 defending democracy and human rights so you can't argue that either country does anything more to protect rights?

He was having people tortured in Guantanamo! Mass shootings happened under his regime as well. Stop being sheep and spreading hate.
