I am inherently disgusted with the comments I have seen under your post by "several westerners" or "americans". Weeping for ghanaians ,how poor they look or how sad their situation is. Judging by the suicide and gunshot rates in both countries I think the narrative is actually the opposite. Your ethnocentrism is rearing its ugly head in these comments. This is why I am always hesitant when Non ghanaians post pics about innocent people minding their business, what you consider deplorable is not that way at all. I'm in the states half of the time and I still carry my son on my back, just like my mother did and just as my grandmother did. Everytime I'm in Ghana I still go to those busy markets , because that is also part of the Joy's of womanhood, to bargain on goods, strike up conversations with market women, yall have no idea how intriguing that is. You can never get that authenticity in your local walmarts and wholefoods. y'@ll are extremely mistaken in your one sided view of happiness and wealth.. Ghanaian women are the most entrepreneurial women on the face of the earth, even lawyers and doctors got a side hustle .. @samuelljackson I know you are just doing a documentary but next be more careful with the content you put out . Not because it's not real , but because your audience lacks the proper understanding of other worldview s. Does poverty exist , yes it does but the understanding must be defined in ones culture. Americans definition of poverty might be not having a car or having to walk to school, or having to walk to get water or carrying your baby on your back instead of a stroller. These scenarios dont neccesarily make one poor on this side of the ocean. but what you also did not get a chance to show is the communal system in Ghana and their unprecedented hospitality ,before a child would go hungry that means nobody on their street has food, we really live by the code , it takes a village. .. I'm feeling soo discouraged with these comments because they missed the whole point of who ghanaians are . Anyway it is what it is!

There is nothing wrong with carrying a baby on your back. It is more efficient allows the mother to go about her day and care for her child at the same time. Unlock the West where they feel they need baby carriages, diaper bags and a whole host of things to care for a child when out and about. This is WAY smarter than how it’s done in the West. In fact they west knows it too, that’s why there are some companies selling expensive baby slings that mimics what these women do with a simple piece of cloth. I hate when people make statements when they clearly don’t know what the hell they are talking about.

@samuelljackson This is America if our financial problems go into woe. Deprived poverty at its fullest. You don’t see real smiles like this anymore though. I’m blessed to live in America but we’re pinned against each other here. Racism has increased its bigotry against others. It’s not just the blacks now but the Hispanics and Muslims are getting it rough this year.

Fact: like many African countries already being taken over by Chinese money not too dissimilar to Mozambique and South Africa let alone Zimbabwe... Fact: there are many incredibly magical people that inhabit the land then there are those that will steal the sugar out of tea. Fact: not ANY different from the rest of magnificent continent we live on.

Hypocrisy! As if there’s no poverty in America. Homeless people scattered all over the city, dying like rats during winter. Why don’t you take pictures of the ghettos in America, the on the rise teenage pregnancy. If for nothing at all, Ghana is peaceful. None of those mass shooting or gang banging bullshit
