This client came in with a previous hot pink fade. Under the pink we had heavily highlighted her hair, and the fade ended up very pink at the roots blended into rose, with a pastel blush through the ends.⁣ ⁣ She brought me yellows, oranges, coral, and turquoise as inspiration for this appointment. We talked through the yellows and oranges being slightly warmer due to the residual pinks, but my challenge here was creating an actual Teal over Pink without it turning purple (blue + red=purple).⁣ ⁣ For my Teal, I mixed equal parts @pravana Aquamarine (which is Teal on its own) plus @Pravana Green. Why did I add green to create a Teal blue? Over pink? Green is opposite Pink on the color wheel and will help eliminate the pink from the hair, allowing only the aquamarine to deposit. This means, I won’t end up with unintentional purple, and won’t have to bleach the pink out of the hair to create Teal.⁣ ⁣ Bonus tip: if I was creating the a true Teal over pre-lightened blonde hair, I would use Aquamarine plus a few drops of violet to counteract the natural warmth (yellow) in blonde hair. This would enable the Teal to be a true Teal, instead of turning green for example, blue + yellow (blonde) = green.
