Part of the reason why those dark skin women that they named were successful is because they are nonthreatening black women. Sheryl Underwood is one of them herself. She's overweight and conventionally attractive, same with Oprah. But dark skin women like Kelly Rowland are beautiful and go against what they believe dark skin black women to be. They don't want dark skin black women to be represented as beautiful and desirable. They want them to stay in their place. This goes back to the only roles that dark skin women are really offered in the film industry as well. For the most part they have been only allowed to play some beat down mammy and never the love interest. White people love a nonthreatening black woman. They will cast them before casting a beautiful dark skin woman any day. There are many more examples of this such as Uzo Aduba, Leslie Jones, Octavia Spencer, Star Jones, Sherri Shepherd, and Loni Love etc. Sara was making complete sense in her statement. It's sad that since you don't really experience colorism the same way a darker woman does that you want to turn a blind eye to it and say that you're tired of discussing it. Beyonce's success will not be diminished by acknowledging that yes, she is more marketable due to the color of her skin. I've heard white people ask if Beyoncé was even black because they thought that she wasn't. This has helped her in her career.

As a woman who has lighter skin myself, I can still acknowledge that colorism plays a role how successful some people are and in many other things in life. The dark skin girls who have to face this reality everyday are not going to be done talking about it just because it might bore you or make you uncomfortable. This is a real thing that should be addressed and Sara was on point even as a white woman.

Maybe Sara Gilbert is called to do Other things that She may want to Accomplish or the fact that She has A family who need Sara. And the Talk Show is Always welcomed to sara like so Sara,Julie, and Aisha are free to come back Anytime they want.
