@anndirksenbaus the MOST selfless of mama’s, has been a teacher of many subjects over the past 35+ years, but currently teaches Spanish in rural, western KS. Spanish in that area is notoriously underemphasized and rarely will you find a teacher with as much heart for sharing it, and knowledge, as my mom.
Solely learning from a textbook isn’t her style; the interactive curriculum she created instead highlights the cultures and lifestyles that come with the language. For example, she takes her students on trips for Latin dancing classes, spends hours making full, traditional meals with them, emphasizes current political struggles experienced by numerous Spanish-speaking nations, and more than once I’ve asked her what the wonderful smell is from the oven, anticipating her baking something yummy for breakfast, but instead was informed that it’s a traditional holiday bread or cake “for my kids at school!” 🙈
Despite program-funding difficulties, as a one-man team, she’s working to establish a study abroad opportunity at the high school (for reference a typical HS graduating class has 11 students), which has never been done, or even considered before, and continues to defy expectations of her position.
She is truly a gem to have in KS, and I believe would be, regardless of location.
Winning this for her wouldn’t even begin to show how much we (@veronicab33 @leah.b.johnson and I), as daughters and past students, admire her love of sharing her passion and advocacy of all education. ❤️

I want to nominate @deesprimont, not only because she is giving and selfless, but because she truly has changed so many lives. At a young age, she worked at a continuation teacher, taking kids in south LA into her school and changing their lives. She did so much— some of which was helping students monetarily to get on their feet, bringing low income students meals to eat, wrote multiple grant requests (which were accepted!!), purchased Christmas gifts for students, started a yearbook at her school, helped them apply for college and stayed after hours to help them graduate on time. She taught humanities and whatever else they needed teachers for. She helped people understand that not all continuation students were unfeeling criminals. She helped kids leave gangs. Told students she believed in them when they wanted to end their life. Stood between students and guns. She cares. She has continued to be a teacher to this day, where she inspires and changes the life of students who need personal attention and love, and has helped students get full rides to the colleges of their dreams. She still hears from her students telling them that she changed their life. She’s passionate about compassion, values diversity, and is a straight and narrow woman who cares more about her students than she does about herself. You’d be hard pressed to find a day she’s not working over time.

I would like to nominate my sister @eburns361! Following in our dad’s footsteps who was a HS math teacher for 45 years, she is now one as well at the same school for over 20 years. In childhood, she always wanted us to play school/teacher, and her passion has not changed. Her enthusiasm to teach children is unparalleled. Outside of ensuring her students gain all the math skills they need, she also extends her heart and life experiences to them by being available to offer advice on getting through the struggles of the teen years. In addition, she serves her school outside of the classroom working in committees focusing in curriculum and improvement, helping to make a better educational experience for all students. Of course she does all this in the highest of teacher fashion, with a majority of the days dressed in clothes from Anthropologie. My sister and I love to do a lot of things together, but possibly at the top of the list is shop together at Anthropologie. Let’s honor with amazing educator with a shopping spree!!!

@kasiaeva is a selfless mom and teacher who works with a mix of students who come from all types of socioeconomic backgrounds. She teaches all subjects but has a passion for reading that was shown this past year. Because she knew not all her students could afford books from the scholastic book fair, she raised money personally through friends and family through social media to be able to buy each and every one of her students a book each month this past school year. Driven by her passion of reading and giving back to her students, she is always looking for ways to make every student feel important and loved. Did I also mention she worked these past two years pregnant up until 9 months ? She has gone above and beyond, having two children back to back and still managed to make a difference in students lives. By choosing her you’re choosing a selfless mother and selfless teacher ! ❣️📖

@anthropologie disappointed once again you have left out Pre-K teachers in this promotion! As expectations grow we find ourselves researching, attending conferences and challenging ourselves to appropriately prepare our students for Kindergarten- and we always get them there! Every year I go to register for this promotion and get iced out. So many of us LOVE your store and don’t understand why we are always forgotten. One thing is for sure, we may have to pay full price for our anthro clothes but we know our students will never forget us 😊🙌🏻. #prekteachers #iteachprek #prekrocks @sara.anna_18 @funkycoldmimi @ldc412 @lindsay.lustig @clairee_mariee @brennerbabyxo

@bleub3lle is one of the most caring and gifted teachers I know. She is devoted to her students and puts in unlimited hours to make learning enjoyable and successful for her students. She goes into school early to be available for extra tutoring and is always willing to go “the extra mile” if it will help her kids. Last year, she had the highest “pass” rate on the state test in her grade level and that’s quite an accomplishment! She goes over and above on a daily basis and is helping to make the world a better place through her students one day at a time. Btw, she looks amazing in clothes from Anthro!👏🏻👏🏻
