A young sea turtle drags a tangle of fishing nets and other debris through the open ocean off the coast of the Canary Islands. This is just one example of the danger that #plasticpollution poses to the health of marine wildlife. Seabirds and whales are found dead with their bellies full of #plastic. Coastal communities the world over are suffocated by plastic waste that comes from far-off shores. And in America, the plastics industry intends to expand production at least 35% by 2025 - with no plan for preventing more #plasticpollution from entering our ocean, or protecting frontline communities from toxic pollutants. Current #US regulations are decades old and we think it's well past time for @EPAgov to update them. Will you join us and stand up for our ocean, our communities and help #StopPlasticPolluters? THIS is where fishermen MUST take on the role of begin their own police of the Seas and NOT allow their nets to be cut away and set adrift to where they become “Ghost Net’s and killing machines as they float along with no purpose save for the unsuspecting turtles or whales, seals or sea lions , dolphin or even fish to become caught into only to make life so difficult they can’t bear the load and this is multiplied by thousands each season, adding to the heaps of plastic in everone of the 5 major gyres of our Oceans. We tried to make a type of snow shoe concept shoe to allow us to walk on the N. Pacific gabbage patch but it was too unstable but plentiful enough to have an entire eco-system under them all but that N. Pacific one is just too massive to comprehend unless you’ve seen it for yourself and The Hawaiian Island Parks Div. should film it’s growth over the years so we have it documented and perhaps it’s rapid demise if we can only get a handle on it and reverse the increase of it’s growth rate!

THANK YOU for using your platform and raising awareness for this plastic CRISIS. It’s well beyond a problem. It’s a crisis. The numbers are so staggering. The big corporations need to take some responsibility, esp coca-cola, pepsi, Evian, and all the other giant names who’s products use single-use plastic as a vessel for delivery to consumers. They need to revamp the way they conduct business and stop putting interests and money above the overall health of this planet, esp our oceans. Cause honestly at the end of the day if if you don’t give a damn, it really doesn’t matter how much money you have, we’ll all be swimming in a sea of plastic and ingest microplastics and microfibers just like everyone else
