For the month of August we look to you for help. We want to know who YOUR Force for Change is.... Each month, we change the accounts we follow to highlight various causes, people or organisations doing amazing things for their communities and the world at large.
Over the next few days please add your suggestions into the comments section: someone you look up to, the organisation doing amazing work that we should all be following, an account that inspires you to be and do better (or that simply makes you feel good), or the handle that brims with optimism for a brighter tomorrow.
We will choose 15 accounts and follow them next Monday, as we spend the month of August acknowledging the Forces for Change in all of our lives.

My name is Joanne. My son Adam died this month on the 25th, 2 years ago. He was 28 years old. He is my #forceforchange to the prescribing of dangerous medications that can stop you breathing. #forceforchange to psychiatric wards in Australia discharging young men 1 day after prescribing a new antipsychotic and not explaining the importance of dosing correctly and not mixing Largactil with other respiratory centre depressants. Australian #mentalhealthcare is a shambles. #forceforchange to a #livingwage for Australian people who are too unwell to work. Rental housing is now over 50% of a person's wage. What can I do? Succeed in the business l put together with my sister and honour my son by having enough money to bring doctors to be held accountable for their prescribing habits.. get psychiatrists banned who over prescribe, do not really care for patients. It will take years beyond my lifetime to fully achieve this but l drum into my children and we start a wave...it all starts with one person taking one step. And some luck. Or someone to spread the word...

@riverclydemg The River Clyde Memorial Group (RCMG) is a unique group that has been formed to support bereaved families who have been touched by lives lost in the Clyde, to raise awareness of the wider suicide prevention strategies in Glasgow and to monitor water safety possibilities along the Clyde.
We are not a professional service but offer love, light and hope in our support for one another to get you through difficult days and times that we may struggle badly with from time to time.
The RCMG page will allow for communication, updates to water safety improvements along the Clyde, suicide prevention and awareness strategies from the wider choose life partnership groups, support for bereaved families, the group progress to a registered charity and fund raising opportunities through ongoing sponsorship.
RCMG is a committed group who will strive to make a difference for bereaved families and for water safety improvements to ensure risks are reduced to stop more lives being taken by the Clyde.
Love, Light & Hope.

It would be an honor to submit Zimele USA for consideration. @zimeleusa continues to pursue its mission of confronting the root causes of poverty in rural KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa by empowering women with financial literacy (via savings groups), small business training (micro enterprises) and life skills (used in community social service projects such as caring for orphans/vulnerable children and elderly/ homebound neighbors). The word “zimele” in Zulu means to stand on one’s own two feet and as such, Zimele USA believes that true transformation and lasting community development comes through empowering the women with skills and resources, not because a nonprofit has “saved them.” It has been an honor to serve and work with Zimele USA to see first hand all the incredible work that is happening in KZN.

My force for change are school teachers. It is a stressful, low paying and usually thankless job that is miraculously responsible for changing illiterate, cranky five year olds into brain surgeons and rocket scientists. Teachers change the world one student at a time and when each teacher juggles as many as two hundred students per year that is a feat that is worthy of profound respect. Every nurse, engineer, chef, CEO, priest, firefighter, farmer, artist, banker, pilot, accountant, soldier, author, programmer, veterinarian and countless other professions all have one thing in common and that is the teachers who sacrificed their own time, energy and money to build our future. Teachers create civilization and shape young minds to tackle anything the world throws at them.

@africangirlfoundation , a non profit that is aimed at keeping girls in school. 65 percent of the girls drop out of school in Kenya due to lack of a sanitary pad, these statistics are scary. The AGF distributes reusable pads to these girls that last over a year together with a whole year of soap supply at only 10 dollars so that they can continue their education and not drop out of school due to their period. They have been using alternatives like bark of a tree or feathers of a chicken as alternatives to sanitary pads. The situation is dire. Collectively we have impacted over 4500 girls and hoping to impact more across the Kenyan region and beyond
