So it’s the last day of @plasticfreejuly. What useful tips can you share to keep going strong on this journey towards a waste free future? 🌎Here are some pics of my favorite eco-friendly hacks from the past month that have become new habits. Bar soap, deodorant bars, shampoo bars, French press tea leaves, dental lace over floss, steel razors, bamboo cloths and library books to save paper, and of course refusing straws, water bottles and plastic bags everywhere I go or as much as possible. ⚡️Plasticware has me down too so I carry my own wooden set as well. Share your tips below for all to enjoy. 🌱

We don’t use straws often here in our house but if we do we use stainless steel straws, I carry an extra fruit bag with me, when I buy fruits and vegetables to avoid plastic backs. Any groceries go in reusable bags. My twins wore clothes diapers and I use cotton menstrual pads. I started to use shampoo bar soap this year and a soap bar is standard here anyway. I got rid of paper towels a few years ago and use cotton towels instead. I compost and use the compost for my garden. There are probably many more things that I do that I can’t all list But the razor is a new thing for me too and I’m gonna look into that

I’ve never heard of bar shampoo and bar deodorant! I’ll have to look for that! We use bamboo tooth brushes purchased on Amazon. They can be composted once finished. We also pack our lunches with containers rather than ziplock bags and when I do use ziplock bags I have been washing them and reusing. My biggest plastic issue is hair products and food products. I do reuse the food containers to store stuff or if im bringing cookies to someones house.

I have not seen you post anything about buying American? Why not advocate for a complete and total ban of things from china? Like trump said, *plastic straws are not our biggest problem* its bizzaro how everyone pushes the straw narrative when in reality the best solution is to stop buying cheap chinese plastics. Strive to buy American or from some other country not as horrible as china. Btw thanks for promoting plastic free GOD BLESS YOU!

We been using reusable bags for a while now. We tend to forget them so as soon as I know we need to go to the store I put the reusable bags by the door even if we’re not going for another 8 hours 😂but it’s my way to remember, I carry a reusable straw around in my bag to. This one is more tricky because all places just give you a straw no mater what :-/ but I’m hoping they at least use paper ones soon

We do cloth nappies and wipes, reusable food wraps instead of cling film, machine washable sandwich wraps, reusable drinks bottles / coffee cups for when out and about with kids etc and I use CSP and washable bamboo breast pads (I'm pregnant, so these will be back in use soon!). We also try to avoid plastic packaging wherever possible when food shopping and never use plastic carrier bags 👍
