Capital One said Monday that a hacker accessed the personal information of approximately 106 million card customers and applicants, one of the largest-ever data breaches of a big bank.⠀

The alleged hacker, Paige A. Thompson, is a former employee of Amazon Web Services. Federal agents in Seattle arrested her on Monday.⠀

The breach stands to be one of the worst for U.S. consumers because of the type of financial information that was accessed. The stolen information can be used by criminals to figure out the identities of the most creditworthy or affluent consumers and open a card or loans in their names.⠀

I think the question here too is whether to trust amazon web services. My amazon account got hacked, credit card info stolen. Luckily my bank alerted me of fraudulent transactions.
