Using a sky tracker gives me the opportunity to dramatically reduce the ISO and extend the exposure time to minutes rather than seconds, giving an overall cleaner image. After getting a decent polar alignment I fired off a non-tracked exposure for the foreground. All round the exposure was good so I wasted no time in switching on the tracker and taking an immediate sky shot at the same settings. Upon reviewing the image I was really happy to see I had captured an iridium flare in the frame as I hadn’t actually noticed it whilst gazing up at the stars.
