Even though I’ve been #vegan for close to 2 years now, there’s always more to learn. ✨
Thank you #DrNealBarnard & @physicianscommittee for sending me such great material to read!
I can’t wait to dive in!

PS (cause I already see this happening here): This is a suggestion of what I believe is important information to know about the vegan diet.
This post isn’t meant for you all to argue which “diet” is “best” and what you might be “missing”. Please don’t berate each other.
Obviously, we all choose to do what works best for us.
But what I believe is MOST important is KNOWING WHY you made that choice!
Therefore, if you’re interested, check it out.

@dyanecampbell As classified by the World Health Organization, meat is a Class 1 carcinogen - meaning there is strong evidence that meat causes cancer. Eating a well rounded diet is incredibly important, but it absolutely does not call for meat or dairy, whiich are high in hormones, cholesterol, trans and saturated fat, not to mention cruelly sourced. Your statement also makes the presumption that people eating meat and dairy everyday are eating heavily researched and planned meals 3 times daily, which is not evidence based. Cancer rates are significantly lower in vegetarians and vegans (even lower) — so there is a lot to be said for a whole food, plant based diet — as well as a lot of love in a cruelty free lifestyle!

I’ve seen plant based diet work for a few people, but not everyone. Before making major changes like this, be sure to consult a functional practitioner/naturopathic doctor and have your metal and mistrals checked - if you’re prone to having low iron, a vegan diet may not be right for you. If you do plan on taking animal products out of your diet, be sure to do it under the care of a dietitian/functional medicine practitioner/naturopathic doctor with regular testing and the knowledge of what to eat to supplement the nutrients you’re not getting from animal products. It can be very dangerous to switch suddenly and without knowing how to supplement your body with healthy vegan options.

@iammorganweed as I said NUMEROUS times, everyone’s body is different and everyone should eat according to what works for them and their body. Also, that no matter what you eat, you should be talking to your heath care practitioner about your diet and changes you make. It’s amazing to me that people who claim to be vegan so as to not be “cruel to animals”, are in fact the most cruel to their fellow human beings when someone does what’s best for them (just as they themselves are doing). The cruelty has not left them, it’s has just turns from one animal to another. Sadly.

I think it is wonderful that you use your platform for such good in this world. You are an inspiration. I know it is probably hard to remain so positive all the time in light of the atrocities happening, that we feel powerless to stop. But know that our advocacy is making a difference. 🐮🐖🐑🦃🐔🐣

@iammorganweed I am highly educated about this matter, actually. And even more so about my own body... if everyone were as into knowing about themselves as they are into trying to change others, the world would be a better place!

@michelle._.mac you’re so judgemental and the way you speak to people you don’t even know is sickening ... I’m surprised you care so much about animals, considering you’re so terrible to people (who are animals).
