@wendy1972 Well, when tragedy strikes, whether it be through circumstance, illness, natural disasters, or even a loved one’s death, it’s tempting to wonder “why me?” and to become angry with God for not stopping it. We know death and suffering aren’t God’s fault—they are the result of living in a sin-cursed world. But when suffering becomes personal, we wonder why God would allow us to suffer in this manner, and why He wouldn’t stop it.
God’s Word never promises a person an easy and pain-free life. Actually, we’re promised that we will have trouble and hardship in this world (John 16:33). The difference is the hope and help we have in Christ.
Job—a man who underwent immense suffering—reminds us that we may never know the reason why we suffer, but regardless the truth still remains that “The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord” (Job 1:21), and “For I know that my Redeemer lives, and He shall stand at last on the earth” (Job 19:25).
In answer to a question about the significance of the death of some Galileans at the hand of Pilate, Jesus replied, “Do you suppose that these Galileans were worse sinners than all other Galileans, because they suffered such things? I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that they were worse sinners than all other men who dwelt in Jerusalem? I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish” (Luke 13:2–5). Natural calamities occur in a sin-cursed world, and God doesn’t always intervene to stop them. Sadly, this is just one of the consequences of living in a fallen world that is marred by sin. Our response to such calamities should be the same as Jesus’—to urge others to repent before their time comes and they perish too.
Jesus tells us we will face trouble in the world, “but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). And Paul, through the Holy Spirit, gives us a promise of God to all believers, “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, ?

@lizziebee310 if I’m wrong about god argument is flawed in that it implies you don’t actually sincerely believe but are only hedging on a Pascal’s wager. If however you are right, and god exists, the bible states that this god knows the heart of all men. Following that teaching, god would know your insincerity’s. Therefore in all outcomes you’re wasting your time. However, I’m guessing it’s not that complicated and shared delusions described as religious beliefs have made you a crazy person.

@nanny209_ this thread is killing me. In an lol kind of way. As a speech therapist this is a great example of how meanings can be lost in translation sans facial expression, tone of voice etc. Its called metalinguistics. Using language to duscuss language can be difficult. @starryy80 @fantastic92

@amandajane_24 Let the wicked change their ways and banish the very thought of doing wrong.
Let them turn to the Lordthat he may have mercy on them. Yes, turn to our God, for he will forgive generously. Isaiah 55:7
