@othrkatebeckett that’s the best way to visit a country! You’re lucky you have a Jordanian friend. If you’re in Amman, walk around the old souks and get a sugar cane juice, visit the Jordan museum to get a sense of the history both natural and anthropological. Rainbow street has some nice shops and the Weibdeh neighborhood has art galleries to poke around in. Eat some knefah! I’m a little jet-laggy so my brain is foggy for more recs.

@romymatse so you can stop wherever then, yeah? I really like Feynan Ecolodge, Dead Sea, Little Petra (on the way to the big one) Wadi Rum - you can sleep at the camps there, ma’an is nice as well for the hot springs. Amman, I would do Rainbow st, Citadel, old center souks. There are lots of great restaurants. I can list them as I go this week on my IG stories or ping me again if I forget!

@helenaxg totally understandable. Even though I often come by myself, in all fairness I’ve made close friends here so I do have locals to hang out with. To me, it’s the kind of place that’s made more fun/easy by having a traveling companion. Which is not to say don’t go alone, it’s just that I like it more with a partner.

@natromanov7 it can be expensive, but you can still get falafel and yummy Jordanian food at inexpensive restaurants. Dangerous, no. It’s got a higher safety rating than the United States according to Gallup research. I’ve never felt unsafe here.

My dear friend @judemattar is from Jordan and I would love to visit her country one day with her. What activities would you recommend to immerse yourself in the culture? I always like to do that when visiting a new place.

@cleverdeverwherever That's good to know. I'm going with a small tour so that helps a little with sharing the culture shock, I guess, but then I get nervous about traveling with strangers! #cantwin
