John Pearson was just a boy when his father first took him to Silverstone in 1948, igniting a passion for racing cars that has lasted a lifetime. Soon, he was bunking off school to attend races and, in 1950, he was given a job at the first ever F1 World Championship race. Pearson went on to carve out a career in motorsport working for Ferrari at their Maranello factory before going on to run his own business back in Britain. Pearson returned to Silverstone for this year’s British Grand Prix to watch the famous Alfa Romeo Tipo 159 “Alfetta” back on track, 68 years after its last appearance, with current Alfa Romeo driver Kimi Raikkonen at the wheel.
