I really try to keep IG politics free...but...
In the face of the avalanche of hate, cruelty, racism, xenophobia & this horrific global rise of fascism...It’s impossible. I keep thinking of my Welsh grandmother who lost her husband & first born son within six months of each other during Hitlers war. She told me she begged him not to go to fight and his response was...’If I don’t, it’s our children they’ll come for next’. Her loss, my mothers loss...the trauma they faced in war torn Britain...the remnants... found its way to a small house in Texas. I heard & absorbed every whisper about the war as a child. The cost of hatred & fascism is profound. Generational. I am shocked that history is repeating. So...I just want to say...stay strong. Dissent. Never give in to the hatred that is splitting like a vile cancer in every part of our globe. And to pass on the words of my dearest grandmother...Never be a moral coward. #chooselove #chooseart #choosecompassion #chooseempathy ♥️

@iammichelleforbes I am reminded daily of that last page of dialogue from the first season of Berlin Station. It is not just enough to know what is wrong, we have to choose to act and DO what is right. The apparent dilibetate dismantleing of the EU, the downright evil vilification of women, children and all poeple everywhere is calling us. This is our time to create a history filled with love, action and humanity, not violence, hate and destruction. You are right of course, each day we have to work to shift this energy back to Light. Each day no matter how small or great the gesture it is the movement of our collective souls that count. I will not give up, dreamer and fool that I am! Thank you again for sharing your family history with us. This links into another discussion I was havivg on a twitter page reguarding listening, truely listening to others. When we share the journies our of ancestors we can find the strength to make a better future. Heck a better Now! I am going to work on a better now right now. I will not accept the shadows reigning over us. ( My apologies for not being more to the point. Im working on that too😊 ) Peace

My father fought in WWII. It blows my mind that we are still fighting the Nazis! 😒

Yes. My German and Polish ancestors migrated to Australia due to religious persecution. Here, they found a new, safer life as farmers. If they hadn't been allowed to leave Germany when they did, they would've died in WW2. Acceptance is important and EMPATHY. Trump appears to lack any quality that a good leader would have. He claims to have US citizens' lives as a priority, but it's just a veil to cloak his self interests. British and Australians are now also vulnerable thanks to leaders who only care about the rich. The world has gone kaput, Michelle, and it sometimes scares the hell out of me.

True words! Thank god I never had to experience the horrors of war and grew up in freedom. I loved that former foes became friends and partners. Therefore, I don't understand what's happening these past years. In history many people had to leave their homes and finally were part of progress and prosperity. Looking back, nearly all of us came from somewhere else sometime, here in Europe and also, and especially, in the Americas. Let us sympathize and help those who suffer war and destruction today.

👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 I applaud your decision to speak out. These are not times when people of good will may remain silent. It was more than 180 years ago that my ancestors were persecuted in the name of greed and racism, and thousands of their kinsmen slaughtered. We — the descendants of the survivors — we remember. And we take note when the occupant of the White House uses their tragedy as a punchline. So thank you for your voice today. 🖤💛🧡. ᏣᎳᎩ

@iammichelleforbes I feel so much of this and more about you. Thank you. And as for not seeing you enough, I’d love nothing more than to change that. Keep inspiring and pushing for change. You’re one of the few but true forces that drives my will to do the same. Xx
