Split-level or over/under photographs are my favorite way of introducing the underwater world to the uninitiated. This type of image connects the often alien underwater realm to a more familiar terrestrial landscape. As a photographer it is easy to neglect the above water part of a split level image, but it is every bit as important as the underwater part.
