When your daughter has a major meltdown on FaceTime because she doesn’t want to put any clothes on.... And then you receive THIS. @dennisfromsalad never leaves me hanging - he knows that I’ll feel unsettled until I know she is calm again. For us, the best way to deal with a tantrum is to completely change the vibration of what we are doing. IE - go outside! Move into another space, do something else, go swimming, walk the dogs, water the plants, do something with a purpose... When she doesn’t want to wear pants, we don’t force her. When she says no to a hug, we don’t make her give one. I want her to stay assertive, to know her boundaries, to feel comfortable saying NO! And hopefully carry that into adolescence and adulthood.
I miss these squishy cheeks! And that beardy face, too☺️ #family

Yes! Distraction is THE best strategy, how sweet and lovely is Dennis for sharing this so that you wouldn’t worry.
When my girls were melting down, I would mimic them, cry when they were crying, yell when they were yelling, before long it turned into a silly game followed by smiles and giggles. It didnt always work but often it did. I also love bubbles. Bubbles at certain ages almost always work! 💦✨😊

@yoga_girl I would love to hear a podcast episode about this topic! I LOVE what you said about modeling the power of NO and setting boundaries. So much of what I’ve been taught is - teach a kid to listen and give them consequences if they don’t. I want to hear more of your thoughts!! ☺️☺️💕💕❤️❤️

@chris_t_nike_g love what you said about checking your agenda! Like why am I placing this demand on them? Is it because it's necessary for real or is it because I just made up this random thing and now I want to win the power struggle.

My son ran around San Francisco as a toddler half the time in a muscled spider man costume and half in a cape (at times both). Clothing battles just aren’t worth the energy most times. And let’s be honest, pants are bullshit!

What do you do when said 2 year old demands Lucky Charms cereal for dinner after ready eating it for breakfast and lunch 🙄 because she had a total meltdown till she received them! Hahaha choose your battles right?! 😂😭

The beat part is that @dennisfromsalad let's you know that she is fine so you can settle and focus on your task at hand. That is truly the way a family should love and support one another ✌❤️?❤️
