Last night at the Women’s Brain Heath Initiative celebrating the historic 100th anniversary of women's suffrage and power of women's brains over the past century.
Did you know that women are now suffering from depression, stroke, and dementia twice as much as men. And that Alzheimer’s is one of the most common neurodegenerative diseases affecting millions of people today, and that 2/3 of those diagnosed are women. While one explanation is that dementia risk increases with age, and women have longer life expectancies than men, new research suggests there might be more to the matter, including a number of genetic, anatomical, and social influences. But, dementia does not have to be inevitable. To learn more about the best ways to help protect the health of your brain, visit womensbrainhealth.org 🧠
THANK YOU @womensbrains for having us at last night’s incredibly inspirational and informative evening to toast the centennial and raise awareness for brain-aging diseases that disproportionately affect women.
