Yep. That's apart of the terms of service agreement people sign when they download the app. Your (and my) unauthorized exposure is something we can't do anything about, if they were to use your face in America or somewhere that has a data-treaty with us, then we could proceed with whatever options are available. But in regards to the use of our facial recog Metadata in a foreign country who doesn't have a treaty with us, no, there is absolutely nothing we can do, and they could literally do whatever they want with that data. More than likely it'll be used to update the country and its allies facial recognition databases, and they now have about 100 million people's facial Metadata. Some algorithms can map a face, just from listening to someone's voice. This could help with accuracy, this could also lead to deep fakes like weve never seen before. Identity theft going as far as Skype conversations with Bank tellers. This is essentially like giving our fingerprint. And the best part about it. Our iris. Literally biometric data, like a fingerprint. Furthermore, all those people with facial unlocking, now gave their password away.... And yes, it's easy to fool a phone into thinking it's seeing a face on its camera, even if it's in a dark room.... ?♂️

um nearly all social media apps do this... Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, google. Basically your data is transferred between servers across the country (invisible to you and without your knowledge) and your data can be moved to a server outside the US. As the data moves back into the US your data ends up in a database. This can be any type of data from nudes or a selfie to just a dm to your mate who was sat next to you.

I believe most apps have similar policies. The larger ones are under more scrutiny, but the one offs that people use as much as or more than Faceapp likely do the same thing. Personal data transfer and sale is a huge industry. Every online quiz etc all have the same goal, to gather info and sell it. Not just Russians.

They already had people. With the fingerprint, face recognition, also so many celebs get their iCloud hacked. Nothing new so people should t act surprised about this.
