It’s important for scientists to consider sex and gender in their studies to better understand why women suffer from diseases like Alzheimer’s twice as much as men. Fortunately, organizations like Women’s Brain Health Initiative (@womensbrains) are helping to ensure that they do.⁣⁣

clarkeleslietoronto Such an important initiative led by Lynn Posluns , a classmate (high school & MBA) along with being a friend. Such an important initiative that Lynn started in Toronto, she went West & then south to Hollywood. Sharon, thank you for what you do to help find a cure for this horrible disease - inflammation of the brain. We need to find a cure soon. As a former market researcher I have my hypotheses on the cause. Hoping this goes global . ☘️🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏☘️

megan_the_m This also needs to extend to pharmaceutical trials as well, almost all medications react to women's biochemistry differently but woman are rarely if ever included in clinical trials of new medications because the companies don't want to have to deal with accounting for female hormones or attrition rates when pregnant women have to be dropped from the studies. As this is just tip of the misogyny in medicine iceberg.

jameswelshactor I love this post. My mother's world is becoming smaller and smaller as she battles Alzheimer's. Strong and a fighter she fades away. I am strong for her as part of me dies inside right along with her. Sitting with her in the hospital as I type this. I will end this comment with another thank you ♥️
