A pelagic predator, this species' numbers have been dramatically reduced by overfishing and the shark fin trade. Each year more than 100 million sharks are killed worldwide, primarily for their fins, which are used in shark fin soup. The oceanic whitetip is a species that has been particularly impacted by overfishing. Sharks play a vital role in keeping the ocean healthy, as do their human predators. Given how important the ocean is to human life, we must cease this eradication of sharks in our seas. I just don't understand it. why are people so greedy and why don't they understand if we don't stop we won't have ANYTHING left except man and I'm not to fond of mankind at the moment. Asia seens?to be the creepiest of all for the most vulnerable of species. when or how can we stop it? I think it's already too late for some. it makes me so sad most days.
