Ohhhh my god, some of these comments. People are pissed the live action aspect is “CGI”, and I’m 100 percent positive people would throw another hissy if there was anything new in the plot. I feel it’s hard to impress die hard Disney fans with these live action films... and holy shit they are doing A LOT of them. I am personally very excited for this movie. I love the plot and I LOVE the score. But someone is always gonna have something to bitch about.

@melaniekubin I think they meant in comparison with the original where the character's faces were expressive enough that singing didn't seem too weird. If the point of the new Disney remakes is just to make everything more realistic and if that means having animal characters that don't show any human emotion, why keep in the singing you know

The answer is… complicated. While there is certainly praise for performances and an overall positive impression for the level of wizardry required to make the movie look the way it does, it’s fair to say that critics weren’t too impressed with what they saw beyond the technical achievement of it all.

@melaniekubin that's the point. The original was very unrealistic. The new one is much more realistic, except for the singing. I think their point is that you shouldn't include the songs if you're trying to make it a more realistic film

Apparently not. I think the biggest issue with this film is that it’s a purely technical exercise to showcase the capabilities of GCI on photorealistic live animals. There is no actual story telling or artistic purpose.
