@MrLondon with a #throwback for the 160th anniversary of when #BigBen first began striking the hour - 11th July 1859. The Great Bell is actually called “Big Ben” and it forms part of the Great Clock within the #ElizabethTower, even though everyone calls the entire landmark “Big Ben”. Regardless, we all miss the tower and hope the restoration stays on track for a reveal in 2021. 🙏🏼 The conservation work has been meticulous with master craftsman and stonemasons repairing 700 pieces of stonework, and even removing and repairing the entire roof. Gilding has been restored and the clock dials and faces taken back to the original opal colour. Not long to go...! 🙏🏼😱👌🏼🇬🇧 // #tbt #thisislondon #westminster #london #londonlife
