Leafcutter ants don't actually eat the leaves they cut; they use them to feed a fungus that grows in their colony. That special fungus feeds all the ants of the colony, but can only continue to grow if it's fed dying plants. Think Little Shop Of Horrors, but ants.

Fascinating creation by the one Creator - we have no excuse or valid arguments for thinking this all happened by accident or evolution. “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.”

Because ants are AWESOME! Another species have aphids as cattle and milking them. So they get protected by the ants and the ants are getting food in return. Awesome :D nice collaboration there!

So they only feed if the ants cut the leave and this so called fugus grows because of it?! Do they expel, during the cuts, something for them to feed on?

This ant is not a leafcutter ant, it's an Asiatic Weaver ant (Genus: Oecophylla) , which is equally as special!
