ikishibui Hey Dr. Mike. I'm a living freak. Seen your epi-pen post and segment and I identity strongly with the guy. I'm allergic to 23 foods, including all peanuts and the odd thing is that I wasn't always allergic to these foods. It started after I had a series of multiple steroid shots, in my back, hip and knee after a really bad car accident. I was diagnosed with femoral tendon syndrome and that's how my Ortho treated it. I also had nerve damage as well. After that, my body started to reject foods that I've always loved and grew up eating, like peanuts/peanut butter/walnuts/olives/cocoa and etc. It's frustrating too because whenever I go out, I have to look at the menus meticulously and make sure that the meal I select, isn't prepared with these 23 foods. It's embarrassing and I feel life a pain in the butt because I have to ask so many questions. I can't even have pecans and that's in one of my favorite vinegarett dressings. Have you ever heard of this? To you're knowledge, can steroid cause this? Overall, my diet has changed significantly and it's a bummer. I miss chocolate and the soy chocolate isn't that great.

lillianmdreamer @doctor.mike Due to the corruption of Epipen with supply and demand they were allowed to increase a 50 dollar product to 350. A lot of people might not carry them everywhere with them because of the costs and they do expire. A lot of airlines might not carry it because of costs or liabilities but you bring up a good point they should. Allergies are extremely common and medically preventable from becoming deadly. Airlines face 2,000 Epipens that would need to be replaced every 18 months. Would cost airlines 700,000 each replace. Liability? Bullshit, it’s money hungry airplanes.

iloveanimals18 Oh my gosh that is amazing what you did to save his life!! I just went on birthright this summer ? I am just starting college this year, and I am majoring in biomedical sciences to become a doctor! ? it is amazing how it came full circle, and although I would NEVER wish for something like this to happen to a person again, I hope one day I can save a persons life in a stressful situation just like you!
