It's the second week of #PlasticFreeJuly and we're looking at easy but effective swaps that we can all make to reduce plastic pollution.🌎Today, it's the trusty tote bag: it folds down to nothing, meaning you can take it anywhere and say 'no thanks' to all those plastic carrier bags - easy! 💙 #MakeADifferenceMonday

@pixiegoesrogue Hi, thanks for your comment! We have recently reformulated our certified organic soaps from using a sustainable source of palm oil to using a base derived from organic coconut oil, meaning that they’re now completely palm-oil free. However, without this ingredient, the essential oils used cause the soaps to ‘sweat’ over time. Therefore, to maintain the integrity and quality of the soaps, we’ve decided to wrap them in a plastic which is Linear Low-Density polyethylene. While this plastic is recyclable not all councils collect with normal kerbside recycling. If this is the case, many supermarkets should be able to recycle it at their recycling point. We are always seeking for alternative, more sustainable packaging and hope to be able to remove this wrap once we resolve the issue. We hope this helps! If you have further questions, please contact our Customer Care team on [email protected]. Thanks! (4/4)

@the_donnalouise_blog Hi Donna, thanks for your comment! @nyro.katiechapman is correct about why our shampoo, conditioner and shower gels are packaged in plastic - glass can become very slippery when wet, which is why the products you would find in a shower are in our 100% recycled PET plastic bottles. If a glass bottle was smashed in a shower it would be a serious hazard! Our PET plastic bottles can be added to local authority kerbside recycling stream. In supporting the market for recycled plastic, we hope to incentivise less plastics being allowed to enter the environment. We hope this helps! Thanks, Neal’s Yard Remedies

@nealsyardremedies thank you for your reply, I appreciate you a promoting that the bottles of your shower products are recyclable, but as I said in my last post this is still single use plastic, which is why I chose to no longer use these items. As a child I grew up with these products which were once in glass bottles, thankfully for me and my family we didn’t suffer any issues with the original packaging. I still continue to use your products, but I chose to limit the plastic I use and I recycle my caps and lids in your stores as these are not recycled due to being black plastic.✌?

@the_donnalouise_blog I read an article recently (need to find it) that explained how it was good to use products/packaging made from recycled plastic, as if we don’t, there won’t be any demand to recycle packaging. Then all of the single use plastic that’s already out there, wouldn’t be recycled it would simply be piling up. So I think it’s good to use recycled plastic packaging at the moment while everyone works towards becoming free of single use plastic - that’s the goal ?
