Rio de Janeiro’s Rocinha neighborhood is the largest favela in the Southern Hemisphere, home to more than 300,000. Most live in very humble, hard circumstances, and the beaches of Ipanema, Copacabana, and Barra da Tijuca offer relief and refuge from the hustle and bustle. While filming the most recent episode of @redbull_surfing’s No Contest, we got an immersive look at the complicated, beautiful community from @foamball_unicorn, and delivered some boards to local groms with our friends at @surfaritv. “We’re all the same in the water,” says Daniel.
