The city of Denver is fed up with its growing Canada goose problem, so officials are implementing a new program to process the birds into food for “needy families." There are an estimated 5,000 geese living in Denver, and the city says the birds have led to “increased human conflicts in parks” and other sanitation and maintenance concerns. Canada geese are protected under the Migratory Bird act, but the city obtained authorization from both state and federal governments to manage the population via roundups, according to its website. The USDA says goose meat is safe for human consumption. (📸: KDVR)

wendydarling18 Wow! I sincerely hope these City officials have spoken to the Conservationists before they slaughter the geese. Look what happened to the eco-system out west when the Wolf population was decimated by humans. Think long and hard about the example you’re setting.
