@vibrantly_optimistic_soul im not fighting anyone its just a movie .. my point is major corporations are slacking on giving black people a proper film to be proud of & something really represents them and just "eliminating" or substituting a white character with a black one instead of making time and effort to produce a film like moana for example .. its like we are inclusive now give us your money and go see a substituted film .. thats all .. im not rooting for white people or i dont have empathy towards other ethnicities .. like what ? Im not even white so i dont really get why are you so upset that i want to see a proper film made for and celebrates other ethnicities

@nadadiaa96 and no one is “eliminating” white race by including other races and cultures in disney Movies. You sound so shallow and honestly oblivious to the fact that movies, books, toys etc lack inclusion and diversity. You’re literally fighting to keep a fictional mermaid white and comparing it to “if jasmine was white....blah blah” jasmine literally comes from Saudi Arabia. Ariel as. mermaid is fictional and the story is still the same. You’re literally upset over the skin color of a cartoon and trying to justify your lack of understanding and empathy of other races and cultures.

@whatthefaust what's bothering me is the lack of creativity and taking the easy route around such an important subject .. like you said lower budget and them making more money out of it and to me thats not right .. its like its too much for them to create a black princess ... p.s. no one rushed them to put out the movie they made that choice on their own instead of taking the effort to make something that really represents the nonwhite people

@nadadiaa96 white people are the race in privilege, so it’s not comparable. The casting choice provides an opportunity to correct the lack of diversity from the original movies. There are only a few non-white princesses when that’s not an accurate reflection of the world. Nothing is changing about the character besides her race and if that was important to you in the first place, that’s some serious bias you gotta look at.

@nadadiaa96 because there’s an opportunity to do it. Why not take it? They already are introducing new diverse princesses like Moana. But to a studio, a live action version of The Little Mermaid is a guaranteed box office hit at a lesser cost than developing someone new. So they’re gonna make it. Why not use the opportunity to do good? I really think if this bothers you so much you should look inward.

@nadadiaa96 who says they’re not also doing that? It takes years to put out movies like Moana, Coco, etc. Studios are businesses and they’re not gonna stop putting out money makers in order to make only diverse content. Besides. The crab is Jamaican. There’s a Calypso song in the movie. You don’t think maybe in the first place she shouldn’t have been white??
