corilibba I have a 5 year old and a 16 month old baby. I cannot imagine being forcibly separated from them. I mean just pause and think about that for a second. Then imagine that you don't speak or understand the language of the people separating you from your children. Imagine the blind terror you would feel, the helplessness. Now imagine how those children feel, being grabbed by strangers and dragged away from their frantic parents. And even all this isn't as bad as what they were actually running from, which is why they still come. Only desperation would drive a mother to walk hundreds of miles with her children. We have SO much in this country. SO much compared to most of the rest of the world. We can afford to be more compassionate. It's not that much of a hardship to do right by these people, especially after all they've endured to get here.

leanintothechaos @corilibba ????????. Well said! It really baffles me that more people can’t just do this. Like, as a human being how can you not try imagine what their experience might be and put yourself in their shoes. If more people did, I bet you the situation at the border would be different. What are people so afraid of?
