@hashimashram i get where your coming from, done more boxing than mma training and one mma place i trained for a charity fight had shitloads of people sparring in 4oz gloves with no headgear and considering most had very little experience seemed crazy to me. Being a heavyweight id think youd have to pull your punches too much to really get a realistic feel for fighting in mma gloves, i guess using a mix of both would be best depending on the type of training.

@hashimashram it does cause more potential brain damage due to the cushioning of the gloves as it allows the head to take more head shots without being too hurt , yet your brain still gets rattled inside your skull only more due to what I mentioned about the cushioning of the gloves. Gloves aren't designed to protect against head trauma they are to protect the hands.

@proctor3113 when your wearing mma gloves there’s less protection for your hands so you throw less punches because if you throw many punches they will harm you also and not just your opponent but in boxing if you keep punching your opponent nothing will happen to your hands because of the extra padding

@hashimashram everything with your career and how it goes to personal and individual level will depend on the damage you take and how you take it. Diego and chuck are prime examples of people who show case these effects but you look at people like Jon or Demetrius and it’s completely different.

@hashimashram ask yourself how much you like fighting. Then ask yourself if you want to get paid to do it. Then ask yourself if you’re willing to put the work in to be the best of the best....... if you’re answers aren’t “more than anything, yes, and yes” than you don’t need to be fighting

@hashimashram how do you work that one out? I know they got rid of headguards in amateur boxing because they thought people were willing to take more and bigger shots with them on than they would otherwise but bigger gloves for sparring make it less likely youll end up marked up.
