@koraorganics Certified organic skin care and cosmetics does not mean that the palm derived ingredients used in products is deforestation free, sustainable, or not causing habitat destruction. Organic certification and palm oil certification are not the same thing. Each certification body cannot make claim that it abides by each others rules and regulations. To state as such, would be the same as saying that if you are certified by, for example: the heart foundation, that the products are also abiding by vegan or cruelty free certification.
Stating that because the products are certified organic, which ensures that the palm oil is sustainable and renewable... is a ridiculous statement to make.
Secondly.
It is against regulations to make claim that your products are using RSPO certified ingredients by using your manufacturers organic certification as an excuse. There is no chain of custody with RSPO supply chain audits. Meaning there are gaps in the palm oil sourcing process. In this case 3 gaps in chain of custody. (1).Kora are making claims that their (2).manufacturers (3). suppliers are using RSPO.
This is the same as saying that (heart foundation example again).. End product that consumers buy doesn't have the heart foundation tick, manufacturer doesn't have the heart foundations tick, ingredients may have the tick (no proof if they do or don't). But End product says we have the tick.
Thirdly.
Fully certified palm oil derived ingredients do not exist. The highest grade certification available for these ingredients is Mass Balance, a mix of certified and non certified palm oil that is not traceable to the source, nor can it give guarantee that the supply is sustainable. This supply chain supports the production of sustainable palm oil. No claim can be made that the physical product is sustainable
