#POSTPARTUM UPDATE
I am feeling SOOO much better. It has been about 2 months since I had Arna and I honestly don't know where the time has gone. Before giving birth, I never fully realised the toll it takes on your body to have a baby. Having now been through it myself, I can honestly say I'm so PROUD of my body for all it has been through and how it's supporting me through recovery. If you've been following my journey, you will know I'm BACK to training (with modified exercises). I'm currently on #BBG beginner week THREE! I have not been completing the AB exercises as yet, but I have been substituting them for arm or leg exercises! My first week back working out was SO tough. I’ve been a trainer for 10 years and have been active my WHOLE life and I can tell you now, it was very hard - both physically AND emotionally. I could barely complete 6 reps of anything, I felt off balance, I was puffed out and I could feel every muscle in my body. I wasn’t even sweating - just weak and exhausted. I wanted to keep going because if I didn’t start somewhere, I wouldn’t be where I am now. I have changed my schedule from afternoon workouts to night sessions after Arna has gone to sleep, usually around 7:30pm. With every session I can feel myself getting stronger and stronger and with that, my old confidence coming back 😃! www.kaylaitsines.com/app

I’d love to learn what’s best for re-strengthening our abs correctly after giving birth. I know that if I have diastasis recti that there are certain things we shouldn’t do until we’ve closed those muscles back up. But what can we do? I have a very minor separation, maybe and inch and a half, I’m lucky, but I still don’t want to do anything wrong before I start doing what’s right for them. I’m 4.5 months postpartum and so far I’ve just been walking and doing some minimal stuff. I’ve started to work in “bridge” pulses (laying on my back, knees bent, feet flat on floor and raising my tush while tightening my core, that’s one thing I read was good) for my abs but what else should I do? Thanks in advance!!?

Your positive messages about respecting our bodies are always great to read. It would be good to SEE influencers having the courage to share natural photos of their early post-baby bodies so new mums don’t set themselves unrealistic expectations. An influencer I follow posted a one month post-baby photo in baggy pants and an angle that made it look like she had already lost all her tummy fat, accompanied by a self-congratulatory comment and ?????? emojis. Good for her but I feel sad for all the new mums out there who see that post and then look down at their tummies which are, of course, still there.

@kayla_itsines I’m currently 32 weeks pregnant, I’ve never used the sweatapp but I’ve been very inspired by your pregnancy journey. Your photos and stories have helped me to stay motivated for maintaining my overall nutrition and fitness levels throughout my pregnancy (even though some days I felt like I was alone, I knew you were doing it too!) I’m looking forward to joining the BBG community postpartum!! Random question: did you end up using any kind of post-pregnancy girdle? Thanks! ?

Yes!!! Thank you for sharing this, the toll it takes on your body is unreal. I remember feeling so weak and was shocked bc I was always muscular and had an athletic build my whole life. I kept an active pregnancy and thought I was slow, out of breath then. Postpartum shook me. I felt so drained and disappointed until I could get my groove back and gained some confidence in my new body. You keep rocking it, you're doing amazing at being a mama and role model

You are looking good! Definitely a bright example to follow for moms and the moms-to-be.
I personally have a fear about how my body is going to look like with this pregnancy thing, because I worked to hard to stay in shape. And your blog just gives the confidence that the work can and will be rewarded if you just stay on the same path of healthy diet and exercise.

Hearing this makes me feel so much better. Getting back in decent shape for me always felt like it took forever after each of my five kids. It finally took the fifth to help me realize it's a lot easier if you workout the whole time while pregnant. Thank you for sharing your journey!
