With Ed Hardy’s exhibition coming to @deyoungmuseum on July 11th, we are going through our 25-year old archives and the stories from friends and peers about Hardy’s influence.

Today, we thought of August 2010 cover artist, Dr. Lakra, who not only met Hardy on a chance at a tattoo convention in 1992, but Hardy wrote about Lakra in the very first Juxtapoz in 1994.

From Juxtapoz, August 2010: “I met Ed Hardy at a tattoo convention. I just went there and was looking at his stuff and he asked it I wanted to buy some t-shirts and I didn't have money. So I said I have some paintings and we can trade and I pulled out my portfolio and he was really surprised.”
