Oscar Alberto Martinez Ramirez and his daughter Valeria ... do not dehumanise this young father who was trying to secure a better future for his daughter. What wouldn’t any of us do for a better future for our children ... who can sit and judge when they haven’t walked in his shoes. I’ve donated to @raicestexas and @aclu_nationwide .... it’s the least we can do.

@wigglesworthranch I am convinced you are looking for an argument.so, I will indulge .
1) I never said it wasn't horrific! So don't put words in my mouth! I think ( as I for decades) their plight is egregious.
2) yes, people coming into our country illegally have died in various ways! Listen to the news or do your research. ?Have you heard of camp Manzanar? Japanese war camp in California? Does this make the actions of our government right? I don't have an answer for that one. Rest assured the migrants were warned. Yet they marched over as if they were looking for the Ark knowing damn well they were not allowed. And, they brought their children. BTW my daughter-n-law is Hispanic. Her father came to America the correct way( broken as it is). Lastly, it’s not my job in this life to make anyone aware. I have made my self aware; you should too. Instead acting on emotions and letting the media rule you thoughts! In summary, bottom line , he made the choice! Where’s his accountability? Rhetorical, please don’t answer. Don't assume I have no compassion! My compassion and empathy is focused on the homeless and our vets in MY AMERICA!!!
I am done. Happy July 4th ??????????Really.

Thank you for posting this. I actually live in the city where this happened. Sadly this story has reached the media globally with so many unnecessary graphics with such a negative light. I am glad to see you supporting organizations that offer services to those in need. While I agree that is best to go through the proper channels to enter the country legally, the truth is that many do not have the economic resources to do so. I cross the border daily and get to witness individuals waiting for their turn to seek asylum rain or shine only to get turned away. Imagine the despair such individuals face to obtain basic needs all while migrating through an unknown corrupted country. Days passing by without water, food, shelter, & clothes, zero communication with loved ones, all while surrounded in a territorial area where locals are also facing poverty and seek the same opportunities. This is the reality for many individuals taking such journey. Seeking opportunities and safety for ones family can truly turn a dangerous journey into the right one. It is nevertheless a great risk for ones family, but the hope and dreams of a greater tomorrow are definitely the drive for many!

No one is dehumanizing this man for wanting a better life. They are trying to determine who these individuals are because 50% of the children given blood tests do not have matching DNA of the person with whom they’re traveling. Sex trafficking of children has become one of the largest problems in this country and the drug cartels from South America are shipping hundreds of millions of dollars cocaine across our borders. It is a shame that a large media conglomerate controls the news the rest of the world is seeing. I live in Texas and I have seen first hand the colonias in South Texas. Many of the children and adults have to be quarantined because they have diseases that have been eradicated in this country for many years and children in this country, therefore, have never been vaccinated. I am not racist, homophobe, an ignorant hillbilly, nor any of the other labels given to women who are Republicans. I have friends from all religions. I am appalled by white supremacy and anyone who promotes hate. PLEASE, try and find some actual statistics and know that I wish no harm to any child.

Sorry Cait, I am a huge huge fan of yours, but how can non-Americans even post an opinion on illegal immigration into the United States?? I’m sorry but for all of you throwing your 2 cents worth into an issue between 2 countries that you are not a resident of either, how this is even your issue to debate or comment on?? You know only what you read or hear of in the media. You do not live here and experience things as Americans do or understand the problems this overflow of illegal immigration causes. How about all of you open up your borders to anyone and everyone that wants to move there with no exceptions? And then you can increase your taxes so that you can support all of these people by giving them shelter, food, and healthcare for free while you have to work and pay for all of that yourself for your own family?? How does that sound to you all? Again, I am not one to make political comments or posts until I see people who don’t even live in the United States voicing opinions on matters that don’t affect them in any way, shape, or form.

It’s not dehumanizing someone. If he wanted to have a better life, coming here I get it. We all get it. But breaking rules and risking your life and child’s life to do so, is not right. You should be calling attention to the Southern government and showing that they have done zero to prevent this from happening! Our POTUS has been a huge advocate to trying to prevent this very situation! Get with Hollywood and off CNN and look into it!! My husbands family had to come from the Philippines and migrated and entered legally to have better lives and opportunities ! It’s not impossible but it is required. Hold Mexico responsible for not protecting its own! Try encouraging them to be more diligent and righteous to their citizens and maybe those who are this desperate will find a better way to live there. Why is it USA fault?! They are crossing illegally. Their government should be responsible and reasonable when it comes to protecting their borders.
