The incredible @redbullxalps 2019 is done and dusted! 🙌
And what an adventure it was - officially a 1138km hike & fly race between Salzburg and Monaco, but in truth many of the athletes covered a distance of over 2000 kms as they made their way from one turnpoint to the next across the still snow-covered Alps. 🏔📍
As part of the team AUT1, we were able to witness first hand why this is called the toughest adventure race in the world. 11 days of little sleep, hiking an average of 5000+ vertical meters in total and some days flying distances of up to 400km gives you an idea of the audacity of the race and the challenge it offers for the body and mind. 💪
But in the end, the last day showed us what this community is all about. After 10 days of fighting for the 3rd position, @paulguschlbauer and @outtersbenoit decided that they would rather fight together than against each other. So, after over 15 hours in the brutal heat towards the goal, they crossed the finish line together and then flew over Monaco into the Mediterranean sea.
