It’s much easier to find the words when the stakes aren’t so high. Sitting here now typing and erasing because I want to say the right thing that will make you want to be the difference, that will make you want to donate whatever you can, that will even just make you take a moment to educate yourself on what is happening to children in 2019 in The United States Of America - you know- “the land of the free and the home of the brave” that place- the photos are horrifying and the text that describes the what- what you hear, smell, taste, and touch- it’s even hard to read- but as much as we might want to turn away- pretend it isn’t happening- we can’t- because if we don’t do something, who will? As a Jew who is well educated on what happened during the holocaust I think about those who did nothing then and thank those who fought to do the “right” thing. Those who knew that just because policy supported the actions of the government at that time, it didn’t make it “right.” Children in cages. Dying. If they were puppies these places would be shut the fuck down. Think about that for a second.

I know you’ve seen the photos. I know you’ve heard the gruesome accounts. And I know it makes it harder to shut your eyes at night. And yet, you still remain silent. Maybe because you don’t think it will matter. Maybe because you don’t think you have “enough” followers. Maybe because you are defeated from the political toxicity. But it’s time. You have a community, an obligation to one another. And you just need to say something. You have a voice. If for no other reason, than on behalf of those who have none.
There are thousands of children in horrifying conditions, alone, helpless, ill and terrified. On US soil. It’s happening. And you need to take a position. Even if it’s the scariest thing you’ve ever done.

edmichaels__ Hey guys, I know what we’re dealing with here is atrocious. There is a good omen coming to the border in the form of 4.5 billion dollar border aid bill approved by the senate. Our government when functioning properly can serve up more justice in a weekend than aid groups can in years..Ive been an advocate for Ocean, WWF, and more recently the young Dutch inventor Boyan Slats invention to rid our oceans of plastic waste. The Ocean Cleanup Project is en route to the great big garbage patch in the pacific ocean, google this amazing foundation, and let’s continue to give, no amount is too small to the feed the childre n foundation.. 🙏🌎💙🐬💧🇱🇷

kafysob We call our Congressmen, we email, we send photos, we protest, we go to our reps offices. We become those pestering little gnats that drive you crazy until they start doing something. It worked somewhat with gun control, not nationally, but within a few states....laws were passed and some are still being considered. Donations would help these families, but I read where at certain sites the donations were turned away. @rosie has a site where you can donate to help immigrants. It takes a tremendous effort to move a mountain, but it's still possible, little by little.

My heart is shattered by this country. When I cry watching the news, I sometimes wonder how many people are watching and NOT crying, and how are they doing that? Because aren’t we all human? 💔💔💔 What is happening at the border and what is happening to trans women of color today.... in 2019 (‼️) are so weighing so, so heavy on my heart and soul 😓

tns_mom I may be in the U.K. but I’m reposting this because as a mother this breaks my heart & as a human being this is horrifying, abhorrent and something I never would have imagined would be happening in the U.S. ever! This isn’t just a U.S. problem, this is a time for the world to condemn the actions of Trump and his administration. The GOP should be ashamed of themselves not just for this but everything they’re letting this pos do, they should all be tried for crimes against humanity!

mariaafsharianrealestate Thank you for caring. Unfortunately, for those of us who follow, this has been going on for many years even under Obama's adminstration. Activists will tell you that it has been going on a long time, the detention centers in Bergen County NJ and Kearney - horrible places - for years for immigrants. Thank god people are finally learning about the problem and hopefully doing something about something that has been going on a long time.

edmichaels__ @samantharonson Tragic as this incident may appear it’s often unavoidable.. Far away from Mexico on the coast of Florida entire families drowned attempting to reach our shores from Cuba. Different times, different president our rescue swimmers n coast guard worked feverishly to save and provide for these feet dry immigrant fleeing oppression. Our coadt guard, navy and rescue divers were able to save thousands of these boat people.
