I have to say celebrating Olympic day has a different meaning to me than it used to. Last week I visited my Grandma in Wisconsin and was finally able to have the strength to show her my medal from South Korea... but mostly it was important for me to show Grandpa. I had a hard time visiting his grave but I talked to him for a while and I hope he heard me. Grandma has dementia now so she won’t remember our visit together but at least she remembered who i was and the smile on her face made me so happy.
So on this Olympic day, instead of celebrating my medals I am celebrating the memories the Olympics gave me with my family and for my family.
Life is short, follow your dreams and cherish every moment you have here on earth. You never know when things could change.
I miss you grandpa 😔❤️

My granddaughter is 12 and I pray she will be as dedicated to me and my husband as you are to your grandparents. When you are born, you become the everything to your grandparents.
