Awards mean so much and also nothing. But in this case it is a big deal that we won The Glass Lion for Change award. The Cannes Lions awards are like the Oscars for the advertising industry and we would not have won this without the images created by all 116 of our Girlgaze community who showed us with their images how to break stereotypes in 39 countries. Never before has there been such a truly inclusive, both behind and in front of the lens image bank. We are proud of our Girlgaze community, especially our WOC and LGBTQIA individuals, who by winning this mainstream award will always have this to point to when the doubters come .
