When Mum died, Judith organised my birthday parties so I still had them and took me on caravan holidays to Cornwall with my cousins. Judith has vetted every man I’ve ever had in my life (she actually drove me to my first date with Liam haha), has cuddled my babies, fed my cats whilst I’m on holiday and really, really been there in good times and bad. . Though Judith is still a spritely, active, social woman, she does live alone and now it’s time we started taking care of her instead. I think lots of us are approaching an age where we need to start thinking about parents or grandparents a bit more. . I’m so pleased to have partnered with @hivehomeuk to show you the Hive Link we have installed today in Judith’s home, to help us care and love her whilst she carries on living her very full life (which frankly, is more social than mine ahaha!). . HiveLink is a smart service that installs sensors in your home (see stories) that learn the pattern of your daily routine. If something unusual happens in the routine, a notification will ping through to me and I can check on Judith. EG. If Hive Link knows your relative makes tea every morning around 7-9am but one day they don’t, you’d have a notification. You could ring your relative and say, ‘Are you ok?’. It might just be that they didn’t fancy one, in which case hurrah, but it could be that they weren’t able to and they need help. . Hive Link helps people communicate straight away and allows them to live independently better.
