This is my family and I'm so thankful for everything they've done for me! Since coming out, I have a different kind of closeness with them. My mom and I have always been close. She's like my best friend. But things have definitely gotten better. My dad and I on the other hand, is a totally different story. We have never really seen eye to eye. I always felt like a there was a wall between us. After coming out, the bond that we have has done a full 180. Our connection has changed dramatically. We have both gone through a lot, but I am so proud of him and so proud to be his son. As I get older, I have a different kind of respect for parents. I want to say thank you to the dads who have loved their kids unconditionally. The ones who support, accept and be there for their children no matter what. To the men who have taken kids who are not their own blood, and have shown them love, grace, and kindness...I can't say how much I respect you. You are all the ones that inspire me to one day be that man for my children. I'm so grateful for what I share with my family. But I know that a lot of kids and people out there are not as fortunate as I have been. I want you to know that you are not alone. That does not define you. You are loved, you are worthy.
