Live footage of me being an idiot. 🙋🏻‍♀️ I wanted to post this because Even though I was encouraged to take pictures with the starfish with good intentions from everyone involved , I went home and did some research because it didn’t feel 100% right . And Of course, my intuition was correct. A common myth is that starfish die instantly when removed from the water; But They can actually live for up to 24 plus hours out of the water! Unfortunately removing them is added stress to their bodies for no reason other than my own excitement and admiration . I LOVE TOO MUCH TO INTENTIONALLY HURT ANOTHER. Every single thing on earth is made to keep the balance in nature. Thus, starfish, as well as other marine animals, were not made to become instagram artists. They have their own functions in their environment. Good news is I only had him for less than a minute and simply made him less comfortable. I love you, you temptingly beautiful Star fishies and I hope through my ignorance I can educate other travelers and ocean lovers to prevent any further discomfort ⭐️🐠💦 Its the little things and reflections on ourselves that can collectively make this world a better place. None of us are perfect angels but as long as we are open minded, bettering ourselves and educating ourselves it’s perfectly okay💞
