‘Playing for Keeps’, on show at @micamera_milan until June 29th, features the works of two American photographers: @mollymatalon and @cahlinetompkins. They set up a subtle, sophisticated dialogue that confronts contemporary America and its issues in a profound and powerful way. ‘I have strong political beliefs but I am not the loudest person in the room. In the same way we talked about female gaze, there has to be someone who is doing the very obvious thing but I’m not sure if that’s the smartest way to get your photos across or the one unfortunately that would deem the more respect. I always think that Caroline and I in a way are being spies. It’s like: you gotta slip in with all the people in order to understand what they are talking about. And if you are doing something that is not so easily defined people will spend a lot more time with it, trying to figure it out, trying to understand all the nuances.’ #MollyMatalon
