The reality in life is this.. you can have great things happen to you and screw them up and you can have terrible things happen to you and capitalize on them. What does that mean? It means there is a unique energy that surrounds you in failure or defeat, it’s powerful and it’s not something that lingers for too long. This is the impactful presence of true determination. Something deep inside of us that wants to take all that pain and hurl it back towards our obstacles be it person or thing. You must tap into that energy during the “breakdown” moment. It’s a rare fuel. It’s fucking beautiful - but not in the moment - in the moment you only feel the pain and pressure. It’s a moment you can only rationalize once you’ve succeeded beyond the supposed failure that instigated you. They all play a part in giving you a primal urge to get up and keep hunting for what’s yours. Wait too long.. it burns out and with it the passion you have can languish sometimes forever. On the other hand in success we lose the pressure. No pressure in winning.. no pressure in 1st place.. yeah that’s enjoyable to win but people love the comeback more than the phenom who just wins out of the gate. As a matter of fact - and this is a fucked up truism - getting what you want when you first desire it is actually (down the line) probably a disguised failure because all the bs that goes with being a phenom vanishes and you are left with no mountain to climb & so begins the stage of life I call Winners Remorse. It’s a lonely place 1st place... but the losers circle is packed with love and belief that “if we can make it this far what else can we do!?”
So you see from the outside looking in you’ve got the whole thing backwards. Winners aren’t happy unless it’s an earned victory and losers are getting the “push forward” that you can’t buy or borrow.
Keep fighting for what you want in life. Don’t compare your journey to any one else. You can accomplish anything with these principals. Look at my career, you can see all of these moments played out & continue to as I compete in the great race of life year after year. I’ve won, I’ve lost & I’m fine with it & love both prospects. Focus. Commit. Climb.
