My father came to this country at 17, knowing almost no English, to escape poverty and persecution.

When we look at our border today, let us remember that most of the people coming into the country are seeking asylum from violence, strife and poverty – in the same way my own father was seeking asylum.
When I speak to young immigrants, I see in their faces my own father who, if he arrived in this country today, would be likely be demonized by the Trump administration.
