I try to enjoy the ride, but it’s getting harder to feel fulfilled singing about love & peace when everyday there are new stories about systems that prevent it; specifically racism & weekly stories of continued police brutality against people of color. How can I help bring peace beyond singing another love song? I am a privileged white male. Choosing my career path came easy & without question or judgement. True equality will be when any person can freely choose their expression & it not be judged, questioned, or prevented. True equality will be when everyone feels privileged. If you have privilege, and you know a “peace” officer; If you have a relative who is a peace/police officer, please use any privilege you have to contact them & influence them to improve their mindfulness, life skills & training methods. Too many mistakes are being made. Teach them compassion. Educate them on the long history and present conditions of inequality & unfairness in the US. Inspire them to be heroes; the change we need. Peace officers are on the front lines with resources to unite, to change the course of humanity, yet they divide by fearing & not hearing the cries of the communities they patrol. Police are supposed to protect & serve. Not punish & slay. Not get paid leave when their fearful job performance leaves another person dead. Hold police accountable for their actions when they themselves disturb the peace. The police will only be as good as their weakest player so encourage cops to call out the perpetrators in their own club. Contact your city council. Rally for improvements & reparations. Being human is hard enough. We don’t need legally armed unstable officers of unfair laws making it harder. I’m really sad for America today. (And don’t get me started on Iran. That’s American police brutality to the highest degree. There is no threat from Iran; only money to be made by hiring US military industrial services to police & protect corporate interests.) War is not the path to peace. Guns do kill people. Love is still the answer. Educate. Inspire. Promote peace. Advance equality. Vote louder. Vote louder. Vote louder.
