The party girl has officially retired. Tomorrow I will be 5 weeks sober 🙌🏽 I honestly feel the best I have in a long time. As well as the noticeable changes and health benefits, being sober has made me realise just how much I was drinking 🥴turns out 14 units in one sitting isn’t good for you, which you’ll discover when you read my @theipaper piece (link in bio). When I stopped drinking I thought I’d be perceived as boring but the Duracell bunny has a new lease of life. I no longer snog people I don’t fancy or find myself at a random person’s 4am house party 🥴I now have decent conversations with people and go home when I’ve had enough, because nothing good happens after midnight. Trust me - I should know!

I wish I could cut alcohol out of my life. But I get anxiety around people drinking - my mum died of alcoholism - and the only way for me to combat that anxiety is by drinking myself. Even if I'm home alone and my partner is out, I get panicky. Sometimes it's great fun, I'll admit, but often it leads to arguments with my partner when we're both half-cut and a lot of tears. I have therapy so I'm really hoping to get over that fear one day. Good for you @stinasanders, you're a real role model x

Good evening @stinasanders I must have read this post several times before I posted... Reason, why? I seriously don't know, maybe I have the same demons as you. We all have our vices and demons, some worse than others... I remember reading a book of poems and literature by Oscar Wilde, and one thing he wrote really stood out and made sense to me - "We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars."... That's clearly evident with you, Stina, you're looking into the stars X

Been there got that t-shirt. Daniel Radcliffe is the same. I didn’t want to go to sleep when I was young as I thought I’d miss out on something. That same thing fuels craziness with nights out. I‘ve replaced nights out with days out with fitness and outdoor activities and learned how to paraglide in the year 18 months or so I changed things around

@stinasanders the best of being a teetoaller in my case, is to see how people behave when they are a few down! Works as entertainment for us, and as an added benefit we remember stuff that's been said and seen things that have been done! Really appreciate your transformation, which isn't easy to come by nowadays. God bless!

Hopefully with time and experience comes wisdom and maturity... however some will never get there due to fatality or simply to much damage to recover.
