About 10 years ago, while struggling in a previous relationship, I had a therapist tell me, “A relationship BEGINS when neither person has a foot out the door.” That was a nice thought and all, but I’m a runner by nature, so really not an option. Then, a few years later, I met a girl. She was really special and kind of a mess. We dated for a few weeks, broke up for a few weeks, then got back together and decided not to keep any feet out the door. Around that time, I realized I was a mess too... and still, the girl stayed. So I did too. We got married. We had a daughter. We had wild adventures and a thousand heartbreaks. We made each other laugh and always had each other’s backs. It seems so impossible that it ever happened - that it is STILL happening. But goddamn am I one lucky dude. You got both my feet, baby. Happy anniversary. @アリソン・ピル 📸 @itsdavidelliot

They even TELL me they have one foot out the door (because the foot is out feeling for someone ‘better’... yup, they’ve told me that) and I still stay.
